Revision treats

I have two very stressed children in my house at the moment and a treat was called for.
I'd seen a recipe on a blog for Nutella Cupcakes and 10 minutes ago it seemed now was the time to make them.
I only grabbed my camera after all the mixing was done but I will write the recipe for you very soon and also let you know who's blog I pinched the recipe from.

All very straight forward really. They're in the oven and in my haste to post about them and get back to my sewing I forgot the after shot-when they come out of the oven.
So, if there's any left in the morning I'll take a photo so you can see, and if not, just assume they were yummy!

Before I go, I thought I'd show you some measuring spoons I picked up in Asda the other day.
Such lovely colours!

Needies

To make yesterdays trip to the sewing Doctor worthwhile I went into the shopping centre in Tunbridge Wells for a bit of retail therapy.

One of my favourite shops is Paperchase. I could easily spend an hour in there browsing and picking up bits that I don't actually need but definitely want.
This plate had 'buy me' written all over it. I love the latest bird cage designs in the shops at the moment.

This fell in to my arms too. It's a folder type thingy, for me to put receipts in. I have our accountant friend coming tomorrow morning to talk bookwork with me, me and paper work do definitely NOT go together. I put it down to me being creative, well that's my excuse anyway. I'd rather be sewing than sorting out bits of paper.......well who wouldn't?
Poor man, he doesn't know what he's let himself in for!
This sketch book is rather nice too. The middle section has brown paper. Ooohhh, luvverly!
Just right for me to use to draw some new designs.
And, last but not least.......sewing machine medicine!

Mums and machines

I've had a very non productive day today, work wise.
My lovely Bernina sewing machine is obviously over worked and under paid and decided to eat a bag of nuts and bolts while I was asleep on Sunday night. Monday, being a Bank Holiday meant I couldn't take it to the Dr, so had to wait until today to go to Tunbridge Wells to get it looked at. I had it serviced just before Christmas when it was making the nuts and bolt noise then too. It cost me £200 to get it sorted and I was really fed up thinking I would have to pay the same again to get it fixed. I had made my mind up that if it needed repairing I was going to part exchange it for a new one.
Anyway, after a long walk from the car park with an incredibly heavy machine and arms 12" longer, the Dr took a look, and just like a child when you call the Dr out (they suddenly recover)so too did my machine!
Would it make the noise? Oh no, of course not.
He sewed with it and it behaved beautifully. I felt a John Cleese, Faulty Towers moment coming on. You know, the car episode where he gets out and hits the car with a stick?
The good news is it needed oiling, something I never do because I always thought you shouldn't.
Oh well you live and learn.

So, I arrive home two hours later to find my daughter in tears. She is doing a Law degree and has two more exams left to do in her final year. She has to work both days this weekend and was worrying that she wouldn't be able to revise because of it. I told her to ring work and ask if there was any chance she could have the weekend off, unpaid. She said she had left it too late and they would say no etc, etc. I said just try. The worst they can say is no.
Five minutes later she came off the phone crying, amazed that they had said yes!
I could hear my mum in my voice as I said,
"See, I told you so!" to which she replied,
"I can't wait to be a mum so that I can always be right!"
