PROJECT BAGS

In between orders I've been sewing up a few project bags to add to my Etsy shop.

This particular one was for my niece who'd asked if I could make one for her friends birthday. 

 I'd made one for my niece for her birthday and apparently her friend loved it. This one is going to be used to store her ballet things in.

INSTAGRAM VS BLOGGING

It's been a while I know and I know I said it wouldn't be. Time flies when you're having fun as they say.

I've been on Instagram for quite a few years and loved it for a good few of those years.  I had noticed recently that more and more people were taking breaks from it for various reasons and at that time I was more than happy to carry on using it. 

I KNOW I SAID I WOULD POST REGULARLY BUT........

Oh my goodness, where has the time gone? July 2017 was when I wrote my last post and I said I wouldn't leave it so long but here I am nearly nine months later saying the same thing again!

Anyway, lots has happened since then. Christmas came and went, as it does, and soon after my husband and I went to New York to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. 

I'M BACK!

I honestly do not know where those past three years have gone. I know I said I was going to blog more back then and that never happened, but this time I'm back for good!

For those of you who followed me back then, thank you for hanging around and those of you who are just joining me....welcome!

Let me tell you a bit about myself.

A BIT OF A JOLLY

 Back in May this year my daughter and I attended the notonthehighstreet.com annual Make, Do, Meet event in London. This year it was on the South Bank right beside the Thames. 

We were greeted in the entrance by these fantastic letters. I'd love some of these at home!

Spotted on a display board on our way around was a photo of me when I won the 'Start Up Success Award' in 2011.  Couldn't resist a photo opportunity!

I WOULD WALK 500 MILES!

Back in April we went to Derbyshire for the Easter weekend. Our son has been living in Derby for the past year during his intern year.  He often goes on long walks in the peak district with friends and had told us how amazing the scenery was. We decided it was time to see for ourselves.

We stayed in a little village called Bradwell in a flat over a Doctors surgery. It had recently been modernised and was ideal for what we wanted.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

I had a little visit to London a few weeks ago with my daughter and two of my lovely sister-in-laws.

We went to celebrate a birthday with a trip to see Mamma Mia (the second time for me) and the day after a look around the shops.

We happened to end up in Fortnum and Mason's......wow!

ALL CHANGE

It would appear I've been away from my blogging space for a little longer than i'd anticipated!

My rosiebull designs journey has moved along and I am now the proud owner of a brand new shiny website all of my own!

SUMMER!

Summer seems like a long time ago now doesn't it? Blustery and very autumnal like here yesterday but today is looking promising.

I thought I'd share a few snapshots of a day we had in London in the summer.

I'd wanted to go to the top of the Shard ever since I found out you could and I wasn't disappointed, it was AmAzInG!

If you look hard on the left hand side of the building you'll see the window cleaners! I don't generally have a problem with heights but if that was the last job on earth I think I'd let someone else have it first!

I'M BACK!

  I can't believe how long its taken me to return here, but better late than never I guess!

I thought I'd do a quick catch up post and will try and find time to do more regular ones in the future.

The move went well, some tears, lots of laughter and some BT frustration ( better be careful what I say as I have a BT engineer in the house as I type!) 

but we got there in the end!

It was hard to leave my workshop in the old house but I had plans for my new workroom and it hasn't disappointed!

MOVING ON

So sorry for the long silence but so much has happened over the past few months, its hard to know where to begin.

Christmas was a very busy one again for rosiebull designs, which was just fantastic.

Tales of the unexpected

Having trained as a florist when I left school, I ADORE  flowers. 

Much to my surprise my husband came home with a this gorgeous bunch of roses last night.

A knock at the door

On Friday evening after I'd dropped my husband at the train station for him to get the train to Brighton to watch the football, my daughter and I planned an evening watching tv.

 At 10.30 the front door bell rang. To say I panicked would be an understatement!

 I wasn't expecting anyone and was really scared (it doesn't take much!) to open the door.

 We went in to the hall and could see a figure through the glass. I whispered to my daughter not to open the door and that I was going upstairs to look of of the window to see who it was.

 As I started to go up the stairs, my daughter said she was going to answer the door. I grabbed her arm and in a very firm whisper, told her not to! 

She acted so out of character by saying it was fine and that she was going to open the door, that it made me panic even more. She had this kind of half grin on her face that I found really unnerving.

She grabbed the door handle and opened it and there stood our son.....all 6ft 6 of him who had travelled all the way from Uni in Loughborough to surprise us!

Our daughter knew he was coming home for the weekend and had kept it a secret since last Sunday.

What was a mother to do?.......burst in to tears of course!

What a lovely start to the weekend!

Showtime

As my last few days of freedom will soon be at an end and the Christmas rush will soon be upon me, my daughter and I took a trip to London on Saturday.

First we headed for the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden. Its such a busy place, always a selection of street entertainers who spend hours on end standing still in a statue-like pose and covered in gold or silver paint. 

The smell of food always make me hungry, along with shops like The Primrose Bakery and Hope and Greenwood. I did buy a few bits in there which I'll share with you another time.

This enormous Christmas tree had the most gorgeous red bow that I would love to have bought home with me......quite how I don't know!

But our main reason for the trip was to go here, to the Novello Theatre to see the musical 

"Mamma Mia'

And what a show it was too! 

Mind you I've nothing to compare it with as I'm ashamed to say it's the first London show I've ever been to. How sad is that?

The theatre was much smaller than I was expecting, which made it all the better. We had really good seats near the front and I have to say the performance was flawless.

All the way through I was itching (along with my two left feet!) to get up and dance and we all had a chance at the end when the lycra clad cast came on the sing a few more Abba favourites.

Both my daughter and I said we would happily have paid again and gone back for the evening performance. If you've not seen it I can totally recommend it.

A little bit of retail therapy was in order too and these tree decoration came home with me.

I will photograph our tree this year just so you can see that I really don't need any more tree decorations but I just cant resist them!

Flying Santa

The shops are gradually filling up with Christmas decorations and I can never resist buying a few new ones each year.

This one had to come home with me!
